Thanks.
I grabbed a couple other interior accessories over the last few months as well, but this one is by far my favorite.

Smooth case 519 trans gets picked up tomorrow, and a check up on the Super 25hp as well....

Progress is happening..... thumbs up

Great news, and just in time for the holidays! What work did you have done to the trans?

Great news, and just in time for the holidays! What work did you have done to the trans?

It's a Rancho rebuilt Porsche 519 that is a '52 only piece. what does that mean you ask?
From the outside it looks and mounts the same as a stock Split crashbox. It's a smooth case has the "toilet bowl" filler, etc. But inside it has better gearing and is a full syncro, so no more double clutching.

'51 and earlier Porsche's used a VW crashbox trans.

'53 and later Porsche's used a ribbed 519 trans that used a saddle mount type rear hanger.

'52 is the only year for the smooth case, Split window style mounts.

Petty differences I know, but everyone is doing 519's into Splits now, so I wanted mine to at least "look" correct.

Getting those Okrasa intakes to fit is going to be some work.

The other detail most people building Vintage Speed 25hp based engines is the head tin.

I had my Okrasa heads modified so I could run stock 25hp tin and keep thing "correct"

Most other people go the easy route with 36hp tin.

Details matter............. thumbs up

Are you fitting the engine tin, or is the builder doing that?

Nope, that's all him.
All part of the "turnkey running on the stand, ready to bolt in" deal we made.
He's making patterns for later use. Do you need some? I know you're not going to cut up yours.

Took some time today to start with fitting the accessories.

Mirror and clock first.

How can you tell if a mirror is clean or not?
Take a picture of it!

I need to polish the clock housing and visor edge still to match.

I had to lose my passenger visor (for now) to add the clock.... thumbsdown

The interior / dash area is coming together as well now.
Once everything is in it's getting a good cleaning / detail.
I tried to leave most things OG or used looking so it wouldn't have a bunch of "over restored" accessories that were an obvious add-on.

With an ashtray in the glove box I added an OG map light to teh stock ashtray location.

as seen here....

Hood lock

Steering / ignition lock The toggle powers up the car. When the column is "locked" so is the toggle, so no power. If the column is in "garage" mode the steering works, but still no power. Very cool!

Shift lock

Throw in a full circle horn ring and you got a deal.
I actually like the look of that wheel when it was in the car.

Radio mounting hardware and WAY nicer pillows showed up this morning.

On that note I'm tapping out on the interior until I get a passenger side visor mount.

After a 2½ year wait for my clackers (seriously, July 2009 I sent these in to be restored) I'd love to say they are finally done.
But the reality is one works and one does not.... thumbsdown

Anyway here's the working one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KO83iOyiKk

Waiting on word back now for a fix on the other one.
