I worked a deal on this engine a few months back, but the deal didn't happen until week ago..

Pretty stoked to have another "Vintage Speed" engine on hand, although I won't take delivery until Feb at OCTO or April at Kelley Park. No worries it's for the SO-1 ( http://lowbus.com/BB/index.php?topic=510.0 ) and that has a bit of time left before it's ready for an engine.

Anyway, here are the specs.

69.5x83 - 1504cc
Original Okrasa kit including heads, intakes, carbs, Fram filter, etc. With a new Wolfsburg West 4 tip exhaust.
Joe Ruiz (Mr. Okrasa) rebuilt the carbs and supplied the correct fuel lines while Wolfsburg Motorwerks in Seattle did the complete 36hp engine rebuild.
The previous owner went with a more "stock" cam, but he is giving me the "radical" cam as well. He also did the Okrasa install and final tuning.

Less than 1000 miles on it so far, I'm sure I'll have it on the stand and running way before a car is ready for it.

Here's the pics....

Quote
In 1956, Martin Herzog started importing the Okrasa kits into the US for the American VW Parts company EMPI and they advertised that it would cut the 0-60 time by 12 seconds. They also stated that it increased the HP from 36 to around 48 with "No sign of overheating reported, even in desert"

I was always told by Dan at CE it would put out about 44hp. 10K for 44hp only in the VW world

Try doing a Vintage Speed 25hp..............   ohno
Speaking from experience it's cheaper, faster, and easier to build a fuel injected turbo 2387cc.

I have more wrapped up in my "Super 25hp" alone than Turbo Steve has in his whole running gear.  banghead
