I just put myself into the 356 owners club.
Price was right and I basically traded my Black Ragtop for it.

$15k for a solid project with 90% of the parts accounted for, that I can build how I want seemed fair to me.
Every 356 aficionado I talked to before making a move agreed it was a sound investment.

Now I need to go back to school and start learning about something new I've never dealt with...
First on the list, how do I lower this thing and get a set of earlies on it.

Some things have to be done ASAP.

Literally *before* I had it off the trailer I had to trial fit the Deep 6's on the rear. Once  I knew they would fit I rolled it into the shop and proceeded to handle the rest.
I got it back into roller state tonight and stuck it in the corner so I could knock out Rich's 15 in the morning.

I'll roll it out tomorrow afternoon after some final height adjustments are made and get some better shots.

I adjusted the height a bit more today.

Deep 6's and 195/60's don't leave much room in the back. Getting these on was like getting wheels on the back of a lowered Bus.

I may try some 145/65's in the front too.

I picked this car up in Astoria Washington The owner moved there a year or so ago from San Diego.
He bought the car from a guy about 20 miles from me (Don)
Don bought the car from the original owner, who lived (lives?) in Santa Rosa and bought the car new from the Santa Rosa dealership.

How sweet is that?

If I never do anything with it but use it as a shelf in my shop it's staying with me.

Took me a while to figure out what you were saying there...

Emiliano would have a hard time getting in and out that's for sure. I'm probably going to be a close 2nd. Toby on the other hand was all over it yesterday while I was piecing it together and going through boxes of parts. He saw a car with an open door and climbed right in. He fits pretty good right in the back seat. I told him I'd take him for the first ride once it drives.

A real funny sight would be Jeff, Emiliano, and myself. I'm willing to bet the rocker would lay on the ground with thee 3 of us in there.

I remember the first time I ever felt like a circus act. My dad, brother, and myself(all over 6'6")climbed out of a '67 bug in front of a parts store in Vegas back in '78. My brother was driving an had parked crooked, and dad was needling him about it. So my bro stoops and picks up the front of the beetle and ploped it down straight. When we turned to go into the store, every customer in the store was looking, jaw dropped, at us like we were freaks. shocked biggrin

By the way. nice new toy!

I plan on using it as a shelf in the back of my shop as-is. That way in 10 - 15 years I'll be cleaning (or maybe someone else will be) and there it will be, forgotten under a thick coating of dust.

 wink

Really, no real plans now, but I would like to give it a proper restoration.

My oh my what a car.
356a's are pricey.
A restored 356 would be worth it's weight in gold.
Nice find.
