A long needed update.

After a lot of thought and weighing the pros/cons of money vs time I dropped this off with VW Paradise mid September for Kris to finish for me.
What seemed like "easy" work, was quickly turning into a lot of engineering and that was above my capability, and knowing the Kris had set-up a similar T1 engine in a Pre-A along with an attention to detail that I feel is on par with my own it was a good match.

With that being said, it sat for a month or so while he finish some other work, but once he started he's been burning through things at a pretty steady pace and communication has been awesome.

Brakes are done, trans dialed in, clutch working, oil cooler/fan mounted, oil filter mounted, *most* oil lines are run, fuel system in, linkage started.

Still to do:

Breather, re-route head drains, new exhaust (old one went to blast/coating and was full of holes), finish oil lines, finish linkage, install shroud (being wrapped now), mount/wire MSD, wire tach, tune / dyno.

Kris told me he'd do a couple burn-outs and smack a curb for me (on video) before handing over the keys.

I'm not sure if he reads this forum, someone told him, or he's just that much like me, but he's been promising me pics for a few weeks now, and I still don't have any....... karma I guess.

No, I was going to call you on that, but now you know.
Kris said he'll let me know a week before so I can plan.

Maybe for Pomona on the 4th?

Thanks.
There's been a lot of ups and downs with it. Hold ups, bad luck, etc.
But I was determined to be DRIVING it again before the New Year so I had to call in for back up!

I dropped the bumper off for new paint yesterday. Maybe once it's driving I'll get that nasty gouge under the drivers door sorted.

Keep on the lookout. I paid $15k for my Rusty one as a basket case...

and got it looking somewhat cool with minimal $$ and effort

Believe it or not I actually paid less for this white one than I did for the rusty one. Deals are out there if you look.

I believe it was coined Friday night after "the incident".
We were at Nick's in Fullerton and there was some talk about what had happened the previous night. I replied, "It' has curb appeal now" and it stuck.....

I'm 99.9 % sure I wasn't as nonchalant Thursday night.

You handled Thurs night well. I laughed at the Canadians asking me if it is a good idea to give him a hard time right now. I thought it was the perfect time.

Color swatches arrived today.
These two matched the carpet best.

Yes, I picked the worst light possible for the picture.

I'm going to check on getting the headliner NOT perforated though.

Any updates???

Actually yes.
I have two shops wanting to do the interior.
One is a Porsche only place, the other is a West Coast VW shop (you figure it out) The VW guys say they can match or possibly beat the Porsche guys, but no solid numbers yet.

As far as the engine / drive train. I'm at the mercy of Kris and his camera, but I have been told it's just about ready for them to take it to what ever interior shop I want for that work to be done.

My goal is to pick it up OCTO weekend, get it home to finish up some small body damage issues (besides the fender) and have it ready for Kelley Park.
