Planning to make a huge road trip to Florida in 2010. I have made the first step and I'm having Greg do all the suspension rebuild to my bus to make sure it'll be a road warrior. Living in So Cal and maping out the trip will be at least 2500 miles one way so I wanted a real pro to take care of my ride to make sure me and the family will make it there and back safely. Who ever is down for a road trip, lets make it happen. I already have a few friends with this trip in mind and will be able to use this time to build their busses for the trip too thumbs up

This year the show falls on the weekend of November 7th. I'm guessing it always on the first or second weekend of every November.

Shoot me some other locations for a better idea of where we be stopping along the way.
I left your spot out of the loop Daniel. I figured we'd meet up on the I-10

I have Santa Rosa, Cathedral City, Phoenix, Krum, St. Pete.

Yeah going through San Antonio will save us some time. we'll roll right through Tucson to pick up Tim, but Skim is up there a bit.
Good luck on the BD though.

I know we've talked about this before, but i'm definitly down for this. plus it gives me some time to raise the box, finish the brakes and maybe finally put that 2 litre motor together. Either way i'll go through the thing and make it even more of a road warrior then it is now, this would be so cool.

If we pace ourself to about 500 miles a day it would look like the map in the link below. La Quinta Inn happens to be in all the cities too so we can plan ahead and make reservations for places to party and crash out along the way biggrin

After this weekend at the BOR in So Cal I talked to a few more people about rollin out with their busses and everyone seems to think it's a cool idea and may want to roll too. There's a couple buses that are in the condition that my son's was or is currently but will be road ready by this time next year...

Since Rich 50 sold his Bus and Tommy keeps moving I'm sure the route will change, but the overall drive looks the same.

2 days of driving, so figure 3 -4 days with stops and sleeping.
I have to work on a heater as well. My new engine has a sidewinder with no heater boxes....  shocked

Crofty (samba) rebuilds heaters, I have one I may send his way for a tune up, it mounts under the front floor and shoots air right up next to the stock heater tube. It came out of my Highroof so who knows what it'll need.

My "test" run will be from Phoenix home after BOR. I plan on trailering my RHD out there for Copperstate and leaving it, then flying out for BOR and driving home. That way I can fix any kinks before we hit the road for Florida.

 I have this thing.

it was in the bus when I got it but cant figure out where it would mount. I know it is supposed to go on the inside of the engine compartment on the left side of the engine, There is a hole in the cargo area that it blew throug I assume. Just doesnt seem like it fits  dunno

No permission slips needed as far as I'm concerned. The more the merrier too.
All I ask is people know how to fix their cars or have someone with them that does.
I'll always offer my help, but I do not plan on being the trip mechanic. My tool box will consist of a AAA card and a cell phone.

My brakes and suspension are new, Engine is a fresh built 1776 still not in the bus, so really all I can think of would be wiring or tranny failure
I would go through the whole bus before I would even consider driving to Kelly park so shit would have to have my full confidence to roll out across the country. I would not want to hold anyone up.
As of right now this is just hopes though.  dunno

it is an "interesting" show....I remember rolling in LATE...there was a huge line in the non pre-registered line so I hit the pre-registered line...was directed to the next person, they asked me where I wanted to go, I said to the Foreign Policy vender booth, they told me the direction it was in so off I went....lol....that part was painless for me yet nobody believed me when they asked how long I was out in the line...lol....

So do I pony up for a Vintage Warehouse or LowBus booth so we can all roll straight in with no drama?

That's what I do for Kelley Park. No more waiting in that mess of a line for me.

So do I pony up for a Vintage Warehouse or LowBus booth so we can all roll straight in with no drama?

That's what I do for Kelley Park. No more waiting in that mess of a line for me.

There's no real line at B.B. just a couple minute wait.
You guys are welcome to stop by and crash / party / fix stuff / whatever at skidmarks garage too.
I'm 6 miles from I-75 at the Don Garlits museum of drag racing exit.
(It's my Auto glass Biz. location) all my contact Info. and interactive google map are here >> http://www.autoglassexpressinc.com/contact.htm
I'll be at Bulli but the bus wont be ready for this year. The night before Bulli is Rare and Unique's Slam, Great big party not to be missed for sure. Bug jam gets a lot of bad rap but it is what it is and why not check it out if you've already driven across the whole country.
Hope to meet up with some of y'all ( That's Florida talk ) icon_razz

Me
Greg
Tim
Justin
Quintin
Terry

I am most likely not going now. New baby, and economic conditions. :(

Sorry, hopefully a group will go another year.

Unfortunately with the time / $$ spent doing my sisters fundraiser, and raffling off the bus I planned on driving I won't be able to do the deal this year.
I'd roll the Salesflap instead, but I doubt I can have it ready to go before then, and I don't want to rush a bus I plan on driving across the country.
