First I checked the angle og the steering column  Then unbolted the box and dropped it out  Transfered the angle to the frame   THEN CUT IT and mocked it up  this is underneath to show how much clearance it gave me  And started boxing and gusseting the raise I fucked up and got 1/4" plate so it takes longer to cut   |

I cut 1.5" of the column.
Still havent fucked with the floor though
I think going straight up helps a little with the floor

I think if you go straight up you can go a little more but still less than 2", Maybe 1.5" (MAYBE)

you can raise the box about 35mm before you have to modify the floor. i just did mine and the pitman is just barely touching the floor.

Greg's not fat. He's "big boned".
On the steering box raise... it looks better all smoothed out...but it weakens the welds, unless there's tie-in gussets inside the rail pieces. I recomend just welding it hot and leaving it.

I have no problems grinding my welds flush. Not once have I had a weld brake or even crack.
As long as you get good penetration you are fine. I have built pretty big structural pieces for work (ironworker) and have never had a problem
Fact is I over built the box raise. I understand what you are saying but I have complete confidence in my welds
